Lead and Decide Project

Summary of the project: BEE-Group has been implementing Lead and Decide project in Banke and Bardiya district partnership with Plan International Nepal. The project aims to enhance the capacity of girls and young women lead change, have control over their bodies and make informed decision about their lives.

Major Intervention: 

  1. Champion of change (CoC) Class running. ( 10-15, 16-24) Girls and boys come in the 2 hours class in every weekend in the particular CoC center. Where they learn about GBV (gender base violation), child marriage, traditional harmful practices and SRHR (including menstrual taboo).
  2. Community level Sexual and Reproductive Health Right (SRHR) orientation to adolescents and young people. 
  3. Capacity building training (Leadership development, public speech, journalism, peer education training) to adolescents and young people. 
  4. Advocacy dialogues of youth networks with CSOs and government bodies on youth participation in decision making process and social harmful practices on SRHR.

Approach and implementing modality  

  • Coordination and collaboration with local government, CSOs , community level youth clubs, youth networks. 
  • Conduct community level events (orientation and trainings) by the trained facilitator/trainers.
  • Mobilize community level institutions and implement the policies endorsed by local government. 
  • Influence local government to make children and youth friendly services and polices. 
  • Always accountable to the beneficiary and stakeholders.

Expected results

Ultimate Outcome: Girls and young women lead change, have control over their bodies and make informed decision about their lives 

Long term Outcomes 1: Children, adolescents and youths (CAYs), their families and communities change social norms to address root causes of inequality for systemic changes, including challenging stigma and harmful practices. 

Intermediate Outcomes: 1

1.1 Families and communities support adolescent girls and young people to challenge harmful practices and norms including their participation and efforts to challenge harmful/discriminatory social norms and barriers to Sexual and Reproductive Health Right (SRHR) including Menstrual Taboo*. 

1.2 Adolescent girls and youth networks are visible as resilient change agents and use their agency and voice to transform harmful social norms and inequitable power relations, including around Sexual and Reproductive Health Right (SRHR)
